Luncheon
The newly married royals headed back inside for Queen Elizabeth's luncheon. The daytime affair included a 650-person guest list of family members, friends, dignitaries and politicians and featured a menu of 10,000 canapes, an eight-tiered fruitcake and a chocolate biscuit groom's cake created by McVities's Cake Company.
In his toast to William and Kate, Prince Charles described the bride as the daughter he never had, the Daily Mail reports, saying: "We are lucky to have her." But it wasn't all sentimental. Charles did manage to fit in a joke about his son's growing bald spot, according to the U.K. newspaper. After the reception, the couple drove to Clarence House in the Prince of Wales' convertible Aston Martin with a "JU5T WED" license plate and streaming balloons.
Evening Reception
Later in the evening, the bride and groom headed back to the Palace for a more intimate gathering of 300 close family members and friends. Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip left the partying to the young folks and reportedly skedaddled to another royal residence for the night.
For this reception, the bride wore a strapless white satin gazar dress by Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen, while her new husband sported a classic double-breasted tuxedo. As for the other attendees, Kate's mom, Carole Middleton, chose a black pleated cap-sleeved dress with a tiered skirt by Alice Temperley, maid of honor Pippa Middleton rocked an emerald green silk gown, also by Temperley and Prince Charles' wife Camilla Parker-Bowles got dressed up in a blue embroidered high-collared Anna Valentine frock.
Best Man Speech
After dinner and drinks, Prince Harry delivered his best man speech, describing his brother's relationship with Kate as "inspirational," the Daily Mail reports. Adding, "William didn't have a romantic bone in his body before he met Kate, so I knew it was serious when William suddenly started cooing down the phone at Kate."
The duke and duchess were clearly the stars of the night. "They were buzzing with happiness and seemed to be having the best day of their lives, as indeed we all were," Millie Pilkington, a friend of the Middleton family, told The Telegraph. She also added that Kate was the "epitome of calm" during the matrimonial frenzy.
Both William and Harry paid tribute to their late mother, Princess Diana, in their speeches, saying "how much she would have liked to have been here," The Telegraph reports. The father of the bride Michael Middleton also raised a glass to the newlyweds. He talked about how well the prince fit into his family, but joked that he almost blew the roof off his family's home with his helicopter, a guest told the British publication.

First Dance
As for the first dance, British singer Ellie Goulding serenaded the couple with her hit rendition of Elton John's "Your Song," according to the Daily Mail. The performer told BBC News that "it was an amazing honor" and "a night I will never forget."
Of course, like any good wedding reception, the play list also included a ditty from the musical Grease. The pair boogied to the John Travolta/Olivia Newton-John classic "You're The One That I Want" to the delight and cheers of the crowd, The Sunday Mirror reports.
The celebration ended with a fireworks display and bacon sandwiches, as promised by Harry. But some guests, such as Pippa, Harry and his on-again, off-again girlfriend Chelsy Davy, reportedly kept the party going until the wee hours of the morning at The Goring Hotel. Meanwhile, William and Kate spent their first night as a married couple at the Palace.
