The largest solar powered aircraft succeeded first multinational flight

The Solar Impulse took off from an airfield at Payerne in western Switzerland on Friday morning and was due to land at Brussels airport 12 hours later.

The largest solar powered aircraft weighing about 1,600 kg with a wingspan of 63.4 meters long. A crowd of supporters was there to celebrate the arrival in the European Communities' capital of Bertrand Piccard's and André Borschberg's solar airplane.
